MODERATORS

Kristen Griffith is an education reporter covering Baltimore County. She previously reported for the Chronicle of Philanthropy in Washington, D.C., after covering education and other community news for the Carroll County Times. She started her journalism career as an education reporter for Southern Maryland News after receiving her master’s degree from American University in 2018 and her bachelor’s degree from Wesley College in Dover, Del. the year prior.

John-John Williams IV is a diversity, equity and inclusion reporter at The Baltimore Banner. A native of Syracuse, N.Y. and a graduate of Howard University, he has lived in Baltimore for the past 17 years. Before coming to The Baltimore Banner, John-John Williams IV worked for The Baltimore Sun covering education, fashion, home, food, travel, popular culture and diversity, equity and inclusion. Before coming to Baltimore, he worked at The Times-Picayune, and The Argus Leader. He interned at The Chicago Tribune, The Detroit Free Press and The Post Standard. In his free time he likes to travel, eat in restaurants, binge television shows and experience life.
The Baltimore Banner was excited to present An Evening with Joyce Abbott. Ms. Abbott, an expert teacher in education and the inspiration behind the ABC hit show, Abbott Elementary, joined other community leaders in education as part of a panel discussion moderated by The Banner’s education and DEI reporters, Kristen Griffith and John-John Williams IV.
